Duluth
Women’s Expo Next Saturday at the DECC
Lundeen Productions will
present the 2nd Annual Duluth Women’s Expo at
the DECC on Saturday, March 6th , 2010. This
year the Duluth Women’s Expo will feature several new
and exciting “touches.”
In addition to the nearly 100
exhibitors, the Women’s Expo will feature a runway
fashion show in Pioneer Hall at 1:00PM featuring
clothing from maurices and dressbarn. The show’s theme
is “Another Year of Birthdays” and is in partnership
with the American Cancer Society. Regional
“celebrities” and daughters as well as cancer survivors
will model the fashions. As a fundraiser for the
American Cancer Society VIP Round tables will be
available on either side of the runway that groups and
businesses may purchase for $200 each with proceeds, in
part, going to the American Cancer Society. Each table
can hold eight people and cake and coffee will be served
at the tables. Table numbers are limited and can be
reserved in advance by calling 218-727-1177. Regular
theater seating will also be available at the show at no
charge.
The Engwall’s Garden Café is
also a new addition to Pioneer Hall and will be
European style open café with trees, green plants, cut
flower arrangements and more. Representatives from
Engwall’s will be on hand all day conducting “Ask the
Expert” sessions covering everything from arranging
flowers for your personal use to making your own
container gardens and much more. With spring right
around the corner the Engwall’s Garden Café will be a
huge hit! Food and beverages will be available from the
DECC including items from their popular Cappuccino Cart.
As part of the expo experience you can visit the Women's
Business Network Destination Station presented by the
Northeast Entrepreneur Fund. The Women’s Business
Network seeks to inspire and support women and men in
their entrepreneurial journey. At the Destination
Station you will connect with some of their clients and
learn more about their services.
Other seminars and workshops
will be presented throughout the day covering a myriad
of topics ranging from business to health, pampering and
fun! One of the highlights will be the Unforgettable
Parties Seminar presented by local Designer Rachel
Hart. Hart, of Apron Elegance, will present "How to
throw Unforgettable Birthday Parties and Life Event
Celebrations." Hart is throwing a 1950s themed birthday
party with musical entertainment and programmed
activities to demonstrate how various components of a
successful party come together. The aim is to
illustrate how a family or group of friends can
collaborate to produce an inexpensive and unforgettable
experience. Hart calls her seminar a "show and tell" of
recipes, tips and fun.
In the Edmund Fitzgerald
Exhibit Hall, local NAPA Dealers will be conducting a
live version of their popular “Ask the Mechanic” radio
program. NAPA service experts will be on hand to answer
questions about vehicle maintenance and servicing and
will even have car on hand to demonstrate to attendees
first hand various vehicle issues.
The Duluth Women’s Expo hours
are 9AM to 4PM. Admission is free with a ticket. Tickets
are available from participating businesses and sponsors
including maurices and dressbarn in the Miller Hill Mall
and all local NAPA dealers to name a few.
